Screen draw issue with Hook driver

Post by bumforaliving »

I have a dual monitor setup (not sure if that is related) , ati 9600, Catalist and Hydrovision.

When I enable the driver, I get draw issues. Primarily in menus, the menu background does not get filled in. I have disabled the hardware acceleration but it makes no difference.

Works fine without the hook but very slow with the new full desktop view in 1.0.8.2. (Can't see 2nd monitor by itself with dual monitor fix.)

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply.

Is this a known fix or is it to have a clean install?

I'm away right now but connecting in, I can see that everything in the folder and sub folders (other than the updated winvnc.exe for dual monitor fix) are dated 12/7/2009.

Is there something specific that needs to be reset/changed?

So you have more info, I started with 1.0.8.0 which the driver did the same.

Thanks butt did not change things. To be clear, it's not a speed issue when hooked, its a draw accuracy.

To better describe what happens, If I click on the file menu option of a program, all the options appear but the gray box/background of the menu is black. As I move my mouse up and down over the options, they fill in to the gray they should be.

As I move my mouse over another menu, (File - Edit) the File menu disappears with some remnants that don't and the Edit menu shows up with the black background.

So things don't draw right or erase right.

Another strange thing (and I don't know if this is part of the issue) when the driver is hooked and I connect up, I get a view of the "middle" of my two monitors. I can pan half the left monitor and half of the right monitor. I have to click the primary/all button to see both or just the main (Can't see the left but that issue was mentioned in the dual monitor issue fix here: ) [post=64620][/post]

disabling "Show shadows under menus" under the windows display effects panel seems to have fixed the menu draw issue. Some other issues (window redraws, mouse tips not being erased fully) still exists. Is this option causing issues a known?

Ah. Thank you Redge. That fixes the same issue without disabling the shadows under menus.

Still, issue with tool tips & window drawing.

Tool tips pop up next to the mouse and when I move and the tip goes away it is back filled not with the area in the active window it covered but what is behind the active window. To boot, it fills with the background but shifted from the right. It is grabbing a piece of the underlying screen from a spot on the right side of the monitor.

Windows Don't always repaint fully when minimized, maximize, or selected. For the most part, dragging fixes the draw issue.

Both viewer & Server and 1.0.8.2. Server is the one with the dual monitor fix.

Speed is set to auto, currently 8530 kbit/s (To be clear, its not a draw delay, it does not draw right)

What is the quick option? If you mean Server Screen Updates Handling, tried different combos but currently "Pole Full Screen" & "Video Hook Driver". Just in case, driver is version 1.00.22. Issue goes away if I disable the hook but SLOW response and high CPU.

Also using SecureVNC Plugin.

Thanks!

Not sure what I did but it started to work fine. Removed all acceleration and it work. Slowly added back acceleration features, kept working even when the slider was moved all the way to the right. :|

Never mind the sudden working. Started working because hook driver is not active even though the box is checked. Reboot reset things.

Problem still exists with any level of acceleration.

Not sure why but when I played with the acceleration, the hook driver wen "not active" even though the box was checked. Reboot fixed that but the issues persists.

I did disable my second monitor and the tool tip issue went away. Activate the other monitor and it is back. Windows not drawing stayed the same.
