1st Question.....As a begiinner...

Postby andrewmpalmer2003 » 2010-09-12 14:01

Hi all,

I'm not new to pc's, but new to this program, I've had a quick browse around the site, and thought this program would be my best solution.

Here what i'm using it for
Accessing my parents 2 pc's...am visiting them too much to fix things on there pc's !!!! same with the in-laws three computers !! sole reason.

Do not want to use a paid for solution... i'm not a business.

Want a easy solution, and find windows remote access is too bity, for even my parents to use !!!

I've insalled the latest version, should i install any good add ons, there was something about video ____.... to get quicker access and use less PC resource. ??? please advise, could not find the download, or is it installled as part of the latest version?

I also use windows 7 64 bit, i cannot seem to see any thing about support for windows 7, but it installed ok. will it work ok on Windows 7 O/S.

Thanks, and looking forward to your reply.

Andrew :) :)

It works with win7 32/64
The video driver addon isn't needed, it makes it faster and use less cpu.

But if it is just for helping someone... let say you connect 10 minutes, you can live without.

Just make sure you check (disable aero) server option, the visual effects
generate a lot of data and make the remote session slow.

Thanks for the reply,

I have been ready the forum advidlly, i'm about to go an get 2 of the netpads, I would like to remotelly acess, but i will be bringing them to my house to set them up and test. Should this matter as i'll be bringing them out of their own home network.?

I run as said Win 7 64 bit,

The other machines are

Win xp home (Netpad)
Win xp home (Netpad)
Win xp home (Laptop) noticed I have
Win xp home (Desktop)
Win Vista 32 bit (Desktop)

I must admit most of the post do not make sense, and i thought i was ok on computers !!!, i've started off reading at the beginning !!! and i'm one to jump in the middle!

I noticed i have server and viewer i presume i need them both, viewer to view and server for the settings, in the machines i connect to I presume I only need the server, as they will never be viewing my machine.

What is this one click all about, is this an easy way to esatblish a connection. used only for the viewed machine ie the machine i'll be looking at or the connecting machine ie my machine.

I read the first introductory/starter thread, but after the 1st post, which is not in much detail everyone chips in with there own issues, which go right over my head.

Sorry about the amount of detail here, maybe once i get the machines all set up, it may amke a little more sense.

A slightly fustrated Andrew
