UltraVNC Doesn't recognize keystrokes while logging in

Post by BigDogRMF »

We admin a lot of windows-based computers that are running an auto-login... when they're restarted or logged out, they automatically log in with a user or Agent account, by-passing the login screen.
When we need to log in as administrators, we log out of the user account, but before we click 'OK', we hold down the shift button until the windows login screen appears. This works locally, or over UltraVNC.
This worked in older version of UltraVNC, but it doesn't seem to work now... hold the shift key down like we used to, and auto-login does it's job... we never get the windows login screen. It's as if UltraVNC doesn't see that I'm holding the shift key down the entire time.
btw, the older version (1.1.0.2) still works on these computers, and I can reproduce this very reliably.
Thanks!

Followed that advice... works like a champ! Any other 'strange' behavior I need to watch out for with the Japanese keyboard settings?

Thanks for the excellent (and speedy) response!

The new method we send the actual composed value.
instead of "shift a" we send "A"
This give better results when server and viewer use keyboards of different language.

When both keyboards have the same layout the old method is ok.

I would be happy if Rudi can change Japanese to 102keys or watever the number keys really are. (don't know how many keys this trick)
