Server crashing after viewer second connection

Post by cdry_10 »

I've started tinkering with UltraVNC (Been using it myself with RealVNC on rest of company machines which are XP) since we are getting Windows 7 computers now. I've come across a problem. We originally had 1.0.8.2 installed and upgraded both computers to 1.0.9.6 via just running the setup and selecting all the options and running as a server.

The problem occurs when a viewer connects to the computer, then disconnects and then tries to connect again, it will connect for a second then disconnect and crash winvnc with:
Faulting application name: winvnc.exe, version: 1.0.9.6, time stamp: 0x4d95df02

The icon will go yellow and the screen will lose its background (as we've setup) but the viewer then disconnects right away and the server crashes. We are currently using New MS Logon with it setup to allow multiple connections and with: Poll full screen (ultra fast), System HookDll and Low Accuracy (Turbo Speed).

I tried using logging to see any furhter information and couldn't make anything out from it. Does anyone know a fix, work around or cause for this behaviour?

This is obvious not the normal behavior.
The only problem is to find why it crash on your system and not on other.
To fix someting we need to be able to repeat it....this is a hell for non general errors. Please provide as many info as possible.

Viewer version,settings ?
post ultravnc.ini ( don't forget to erase the passwd in it)

Try with updated server and viewer

I replaced my winvnc.exe file from the link and it seems to be working no problem now. Not sure if it was just something that happened on my PC yesterday or something to do with my files. The other computer which was installed/upgraded with UltraVNC the exact same way is having no issues.
