Capture special keys

Post by Cry Havok »

First off, this isn't knocking UVNC, it's just an observation of one area that TightVNC does something better (and despite that I've still switched to UVNC :) ).

With TightVNC you can use the Windows key in the VNC window and it's sent to the remote system. This comes in handy for those of us who make heavy use of it.

Are there any plans to support this?

TIA

Window keys are supported....
Uvnc 1.0.1 viewer --> you need to activate it by pressing Scroll Lock

[topic=4049][/topic]
This version activate the keys when focus is on window.

Possible we still miss some special keys, but most common are supported.

Ok, I've obviously got something strange going on.

v1.0.1 - Windows key ignored whether or not the Scroll Lock is active.

v2 - No different, either with the v1.2 or v1.3 betas.

Do I need to put the v2 server on too?

So far, only the Windows key as it's the one that's key to a large number of useful shortcuts.

<ALT><TAB> works as expected - with scroll lock on.

Right, all working in the end, mostly.

It is however a PITA to have to toggle scroll lock on and off to use the special keys, then if I want to send <CTRL><ALT><DEL> I have to toggle it off, and remember to toggle it on again...

Any chance of an option to map the special keys when the window has focus? I can understand that many people are probably happy with the current approach, but I'd like the option of not having to keep hitting scroll lock :)

Hi

I'm using UltraVNC 1.1.8.0 installed on Windows 7 SP1 64-bit.

I tried to control a machine with Windows 8 Enterprise 64 bit and I noticed that the its keyboard shortcuts (like Win+c, or Win+i or ...) does not work. How come? How do I fix this?

Thanks

Bye

This require the addons to be installed.
On win8 alt-tab and other winkey combinations can only be simulated by a seperate exe.

For win7 no special exe is needed.
to control a machine with Windows 8 Enterprise 64
The request was for windows 8

Addons for win8 are not installed on win7

So, I can not understand one thing: if I should remotely control a computer that has windows 8 using a computer that has windows 7, how would I send to Windows 8 the Windows key sequences as Win+r?

Thanks
