Windows Server 2012 Video Delay

Post by kirinsha »

Hello,

UltraVNC Server 1.1.9.X and mirror driver installed on Windows Server 2012 machine.
So I connect from Windows 7 machine, the video is delayed for 1-2 second.

Do I need to try w8hook.dll addon ?

Sorry, this problem is solved by using w8hook.dll.

Dear UltraVNC Support:

I successfully installed uvnc 1.1.9.6 on my Windows Server 2012 R2 box, plus the w8hook.dll and rebooted the server. Seems to run fine, but when I try connecting from a UVNC Viewer on my Windows7 PC, and after entering the password as prompted, I get the video display of the 2012 server, but the cursor is just a small white dot, and I can't click on any windows in my 2012 server session from the Windows7 VNCViewer session. My 2012 server is still running, and I can work on it just fine, but the VNCViewer session on the Windows7 PC is just showing the display, but not allowing keystrokes to pass through or mouse clicks.

What else do I need to do to enable full Viewer functionality on the 2012 server session?

Thanks!

If winvnc is not running as service, try to start it with "runas admin".
It looks like a UAC issue.

Wow, that worked! Thanks for the fast reply, Rudy! I stopped the uvnc_service Service in the Control Panel on the 2012 server, and ran the desktop UVNC Server icon "as administrator". Now the Viewer works fine.

BUT -- how do I get the Service in the control-panel to "Run as Administrator" automatically on a reboot? I don't want to have to manually "run as administrator" after every reboot.

Let me know... Thanks!

Hi again Rudi,

You were right! It was a UAC issue. It works perfectly running the service as local-system after I followed the instructions on this page to disable UAC prompting:

Thanks again for your help! Keep up the great work!
