Firefox 5 among others freezes my remote session

Post by striker_the_medic »

Hey,

I use UltraVNC SC, I used the http://sc.uvnc.com/downloads/single-cli ... loads.html to create my exe.

When I take over a screen, some programs make my remote session freeze.
It mostly happens when I take over Win7 machines.

I tested it with Firefox 5 on a Win7, which freezes the session each time when I open Firefox.
Ive been searching all over this forum, but found no solution to this problem.

Suggestions?

There's been a bunch of complaints on this, including http://forum.ultravnc.info/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=28256

Apparently Firefox refuses to do anything else but use available accelerated video drivers that bypass UltraVNC.

Firefox aside, this kind of problem is often solved by turning on "capture alpha blending" on the VNC server.

This answer still shows up in 1st page Google search

The solution is to disable Hardware Acceleration (GPU rendering) in Firefox

Tools->Options->Advanced (general tab) and untick the checkbox for hardware acceleration.
