Recent Change History

2008.4.4

* Fixes - There are numerous bug fixes in this release. They mostly cover bugs reported in the forums and to our online support.

* New: There is a new feature that allows mass updating of MAC addresses. It tries multiple ways to get the addresses so it should be more successful than the method used while scanning for VNC and RDP.

Hi, no need to repost the notification about existing releases. Latest one seems to be 4th of April from the release notes, but you posted the text:
Download: http://www.vncscan.com/vs/download.htm

Release notes available on download page.
... twice after that. It's getting a bit redundant.

Please only post once per release and if you actually released something.

Thanks,

VNCScan Updated to 2008.6.5.216

VENM 2008.6.11 Released

Post by sbostedor »

Bozteck has released updated version 2008.6.11 of the VNCScan Enterprise Network Manager (VENM)

Changes:

New: VNC Password Changer now works for UltraVNC 1.0.4. If you're running it against Vista computers, be sure that the Remote Registry Service is running on them. We've been seeing that it's set to "manual" startup on most Vista machines.

Fix: The dialog that presented itself when closing the VNC viewer has been removed. That was quite the annoyance.

Fix: The RDP Reconnect was broken on the tab menu. Fixed.

Fix: The menu on the remote process manager was not expanding like it was supposed to.

Added: The process to report the version of VNC installed on the remote computers now includes checks for 1.0.4.

This is more of the same from the last bug fix release. I think that we pretty much have all of the bugs that prevent VNC from being deployed to Vista computers taken care of in this wrap-up release. Please let us know if there is anything that we missed using the Get Satisfaction forums.

New Update Released: 2008.7.8.228

This release is mostly bug fixes but we do have one new feature. We've put in the abiity to selectively export your remote scripts to .zip files that can be shared about and imported into your friends and co-workers consoles.

To export a script, simply open the Remote Scripts Manager, right-click a script, and choose 'Export'. It's just as simple to import one that was shared with you.

We're in the process of moving to a new website so links on our existing site may redirect you there. To go directly to the new website, click here: http://www.bozteck.com/vncscan

Re: UltraVNC Management with Vista Push & Safe Mode Supp

Post by sbostedor »

Updated release to 2008.8.6.231

You can download it at http://www.bozteck.com/vncscan/downloads.html

* Fixes: Numerous pesky bugs have been eliminated with this release. Many of them were reported in our forums.
* Change: Due to antivirus and anti-spyware false positives, we're trying to move away from the use of BeyondExec for the scripting engine and defaulting to Microsoft's PsExec. We've tried to make this as seamless of a change as possible and you may not even notice (except that things work better).
* Change: There have been some significant back end changes to make VNCscan work better after changing the location of the groups.xml and other support files. It typically worked pretty well except for a handful of people who had special case issues with their 'My Documents' location.

Jst a FYI - we updated the setup file the other day. We were getting reports that the beyondexecv2.exe file was not properly getting updated. If you ran into this problem, it can be corrected with the new setup.

I'm sorry about the inconvenience. :)

Re: UltraVNC Management Console - Version 1.0.5 Push Support

Post by sbostedor »

Version 2008.11.11 Released

FIX: Connecting to RDP used to require XP Sp3 or Vista SP1 to be applied due to a logic bug. Now, the only requirement is that your RDP version is 6.0 or higher. If you attempt to connect to a RDP or Terminal Server and you have RDP 5 or less on your computer, you will be prompted to upgrade and provided a download link. This is happening because Microsoft chantged the way that RDP worked for console sessions in RDP 6.

Fix: Setting the "console" option in the group properties was ignored. It worked if you set it at the group properties, however.

Other: Minor fixes and tweaks to improve performance.

UltraVNC Management Console with Service Monitoring

Post by sbostedor »

Download: http://www.bozteck.com/vncscan/downloads/

Release Notes:

2009.1.22

# New: Email alerting for the service status of VNC, RDP, and Ping. If any of them change state from up or down between background scans, you can be alerted by email or run various commands. This can be set in the group properties and overridden by the computer properties for fine tuning.
# New: You can choose to run one of your remote scripts when a computer is back up on the network. This is an excelent way to schedule a script for laptops or other computers that are not always on the network
# New: You can have VENM automatically connect to VNC for you when the computer comes back onto the network. Once the computer is detected by a background scan and the VNC service is reachable, VENM will open the VNC connection to the computer for you.
# New: Execute local custom commands when a computer falls off the network.
# Fix: Eliminated the old scrserv method of capturing remote screen shots. You should no longer need to fight with oversealous virus scanners for this feature to work. Note that the new method does require that the remotely monitored comptuers have at least the Microsoft .NET Feamework 2.0 or later installed on them. In today's Windows world, that's pretty much a given.
# New: Improved the screen for creating custom commands
New: Screen shots now work for Vista computers! Of course, you still need to supply VNCScan with an administrative login and password in order to have access to the remote desktop but that's it! No VNC needs to be installed for this feature to work.

Re: UltraVNC Management Console with Service Monitoring

Version 2009.2.3 has been released!

Download: http://www.bozteck.com/vncscan/downloads.html

Release Notes:

2009.2.3

* fix: Fixed the problem with MS Login connections where tje computer settings was overriding the group settings even if the password was blank. More info here.
* Fix: There were various bugs with the new deployment setup that needed to be fixed.

2009.2.2

* New: The VNC deployment process has been revamped to be more intuitive. The wizard driven method in the previous version was adequate for it's day but it didn't scale well to things like diting profiles. There is an overview of what has changed here.
* Fix: There was one more bug that involved determining if VENM should use the IP address or resolved host name when running commands and connecting to VNC.
* Fix: When deploying UltraVNC version 1.0.5, it would not obey the setting to deploy without the shortcut icons
* Fix: When deploying UltraVNC version 1.0.5, the video driver would often not install even if you selected to do so. Be aware, thought, that this video driver is unsigned. This may cause Vista and Windows Server to prompt the desktop user to OK the installation. If you know of a scriptable way to force unsigned drivers on these operating systems, please let us know in the forums and we'll pass that knowledge around.
* Fix: When setting a custom command line for VNC caused an error to show when connecting using Windows authentication.

2009.1.28

* Update: Thumbnails now work without the requirement of the .NET 2.0 framework on Windows XP. If you have been using a previous version and already have thumbnails going, you may want to remove all of the thumbnails and then re-add them again if the thumbnails don't show up pretty quickly after the upgrade. If you have to do this, it is only once. The reason for this is to reset the thumbnail configuration for each computer to use the new method.
* Update: The thumbnail screen catcher now gets both monitors in a multi-monitor situation. In previous versions, it only snapped the main monitor.
* Fix: The VNC password changing wizard has been revamped on the back end to be much more reliable in less than ideal networking conditions. If you tried this feature and it didn't work for you in the past, you'll want to give it another go, now.
* Fix: When deploying VNC to computers using Microsoft's MSAuthenication method, the computer properties for those computers was modified to force windows authentication for VNC but with a blank username and password. This caused a lot of work and pain because it overrode the group preferences. This is no longer being done.
* Fix: Lots of i's have been dotted and t's have been crossed. Version number enhanced.

2009.1.26

* Update: Made some finishing touches on the thumbnail screen capture feature. We've dramatically lowered the number of event log entries that get made on the remote computer while screen captures are being done, There were also a lot of speed optimizations done that should be noticeable.
