Remote side (remote "SITE"?) closed connection.
I can connect from another machine to my home pc that is running uvnc server but trying from THIS PC I get the above error. Could a password protected screensaver at home cause this?
Does the error itself tell anyone anything that may be helpful?

Re: Network error. Remote side closed connection
password protect screen savor will not let you connect!!!! That would be on the sever side..
Alot of networks use stateful pack inspection. These will not let the traffic pass through.

Re: Network error. Remote side closed connection
I do not understand who the "they" are that you say might not be supported!
Please allow me to restate my question another way that me make more sense...
Home PC running uvnc.
I CAN connect to home PC from a friends house via http://mydyndnsname.net:port - BUT -
CANNOT connect to home PC from where I am now (work).
From here I get the above error.
I was wondering (hoping) that my home PC may be causing the connnection to fail, maybe as the result of a password-protected screensaver.
Thx again,
Rich

Re: Network error. Remote side closed connection
[home PC] --> [nat router]-->internet--> [friend]
[work] -->internet-->[nat router] -->[home]
http://mydyndnsname.net:port === ip address nat router
You need to setup your router so port is forwarded to home
From [work] you connect to the [nat router], [home] has not direct access.

Re: Network error. Remote side closed connection
work may also block it.. Because you are trying to access your machine via an outside network..

Re: Network error. Remote side closed connection
Correct, a corporate firwalll can also block ports...
Re: Network error. Remote side closed connection
Yes, I fear that the IT dept /may/ be blocking this.
The ports /are/ forwarded correctly at home (as is evidenced by proper functionality from a friends house).
From work (I forgot to mention this) I do get as far as entering my home PC's uvnc password THEN I get the title error.
There are only 2 differences I could think of between the 2 tests: Corporate firewall and the home screen saver. (For the test with a friend, I was home and the screen saver was not engaged.)
Tomorrow I shall make sure the password protected screen saver is not engaged, though I doubt /it/ is the issue.
Now, to circumvent the corporate firewall.... Any thoughts folks? I am thinking: set the uvnc's MAIN port to something they may not be blocking.... Port 80? 443? (See where I'm going?) The HTTP port seems to be working the way it is.
Thanks all, You guys are appreciated!

Re: Network error. Remote side closed connection
you would have to use ssh tunneling.. i think there is a step by step for that

Re: Network error. Remote side closed connection
AH-HA! It *WAS* my screen saver! I guess that the UVNC server, after having the pasword entered, could not hand control to the viewer.
