How do I remove PChelpware??

Post by unionaire »

Well, I look everywhere and couldn't find any info related to removal.

The problem is I run the .bat file on create server right after I downloaded it, and it created a server I don't know how to connect to.

I'm now trying to delete all the files but some .dll files are running. So my questions, when I screw up like that, how do i start over?

There's no install program for PcHelpWare, so I doubt the developer ever thought an uninstall program was needed.

Basically, your unzip program simply copies the files into a "PcHelpWare" directory on your computer. Nothing is installed into other directories, no modifications are made to the registry, and no changes are made to system files; heck, it doesn't even put an icon on your desktop, you have to do that yourself. Whenever you run the "create server" option, it merely puts more files into that same PcHelpWare directory.

If you want to completely remove PcHelpware, just manually delete the PcHelpWare directory itself and everything inside - that's it. For .dll programs running, just use task manager to kill them, then delete (or you can always reboot your computer to get rid of the running .dll's first).

well, that's the thing, I don't see any running process and i can't delete the folder because some files are in use. So i would assume it is still running and I want to unregister it....

I doubt it might install itself as system service.

Just reboot, that'll kill it. Then delete.

And actually, it *is* possible to install the repeater as a service (though it's not terribly easy with PCH's repeater, you have to work at it). It's also possible to install the fast refresh video drivers, which *would* place themselves elsewhere in your system (in the drivers subfolder).

But you didn't mention doing any of that. If you have, then uninstall the repeater service and run the uninstall program for the video drivers, then delete.
