UltraVNC with zeroconf/MDNS registration

Post by mbroos »

Nowadays we want to configure as less as possible, Certainly when you need to remember what servers you have installed ultravnc on.
It would be a very nice feature as the zeroconf protocol could be implemnted. As this is set on you can browse for servers with the ultravnc server installed. This could also make the connection easier from the clientsite by browsing for installed servers.
No more need to remember the IP/host adres of the server you want to connect to, but see a logical name in a list with servers.
In the server you should be able to specify visible name (default when empty is the standard hostname).

When you start the viewer, you could do a swap scan of the local n etwork and print those names in the dropdownlist. When you connect, the IP adress and the hostname is retrieved from the zeroconf server.
