Unknown user name when using ms logon

Post by ken »

I'm the domain admin of "acad". I can log into the computer and have admin rights, but when I try to access the XP computer from UltraVNC I get the following:

I know my credentials are correct. Registry forceguest is set to 0.

I'm using Bozteck VNCScan to deploy, but that shouldn't be an issue.

What's going on?

I finally found out what the problem was. We had a Domain Policy that only allows NTLMv2 authentication. It seems VNC talks back to the Domain controllers with NTLMv1.

For anyone else with the problem, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823659

Set it to:
Clients use NTLM authentication only and use NTLMv2 session security if the server supports it; domain controllers accept LM, NTLM, and NTLMv2 authentication.[/url]
