Trusting the video driver install (certificate related)

Post by bridge »

Hi,

When installing the video driver in my work environment on Windows 7, it is turning up as "signed by a publisher of unknown trust". This results in a prompt if one is an administrator and a silent refusal of the install otherwise.

The prompt:

I learned a little bit more about this here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd406710.aspx

Ideally, I would be able to install the video driver silently on hundreds of computers. Any thoughts on how I could add the certificate for the video driver to my environment so the video driver installation will be trusted?

Thank You.[/img]

From Rudi on this topic:
Try

1) properties mv2.dll
2) digital signature
3) details
4) show certifcate
5) install certificate as trusted publisher
6) open iexplorer
7) internet option
8) content
9) certifcates
10) find the uvnc bvba cert in the trusted publisher part
11) save the certificate to disk
( Your installer can use this file to preinstall the cert in the trusted publisher folder to avoid any popup)

12) see
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms172241.aspx
for preinstalling the certificate

As a point of follow up, Rudi's directions do allow one to prepopulate the certificate on a computer to avoid the prompt regarding trusting the publisher upon video driver install.
