Tabbed Viewers?

Post by Ares »

Hey, how about having tabs in the Viewer for each connection? This way we could use multiple machines at once, without having a bunch of Viewers on the screen. Whenever a tab is selected, the other tabs are essentially "minimized" in that they will no longer be receiving data, just like when we minimize them now. Click back on a tab, and that connection is revived, and the other is set to inactive.

Just a thought - I'm sure it's nothing you want to try to implement before the release of 1.0, but maybe for the future?? Tabs are all the rage right now, afterall lol ;)

I could see this being implemented, however the time I need it the most is if I want to switch viewers that are maxamized. Because making it full screen hides the taskbar. And maybe a shortcut to start a new instance of the viewer within the viewer?
This space not for rent.

Tabbed Viewing

Post by chaley »

I saw it somewhere in these forums, but it needs to be said again...TABBED VIEWING!

I know you can click in the little box in the upper right and put the name/ip of the machine you want to connect to in order to start a whole new instance of the viewer. However, much like Firefox did with the browser, I'd love to see UltraVNC do w/the viewer!

Mult-tab viewing would help admins like me who need the ability to connect to tons of machines! When one tab is selected, that is the "active" connection and the rest are inactive.
Upon switching views, the active tab will be the only active viewer...as though the others are minimized and not receiving data so as to not take up bandwidth.

This would rock the boat!

Thanks,

~Chris
