UltraVNC SC Auto loading client webpage (HTML)

Post by Dwalf »

USE AT OWN RISK!
This example is for education only.
Dont abuse this info.

AutoLoad Webbuilder BETA

About
Autoload Webbuilder will build you a HTML webpage what will attempt to automaticly Launch your SC.EXE with a Active-X compnent Note You dont need a Certificate but will work better. Also note its BETA.

Screen Shot
Image

Download
http://freehost04.websamba.com/duckware/awb/install.htm

When loading from this site you will see the remote.exe in this loader is the client install and not a remote util. I made it with this app.

Mini Howto
Start the Program and select the EXE to use.
The EXE will be renamed to remote.exe
When done a Folder Called "AWB" will be created on your desktop.
Inside you will find all the files to use. Edit the htmllogo.jpg to suite your site. And then upload all the files to your site. Dont overide an files on your site. If you have a Certificate use the Signcode.exe there is a PDF help file. Note some of the tools in this app is not part of Autoload Webbuilder.

Requirements
Dont abuse this software else it will get blocked.
There are tons of people who want to use this software.
When you run this software you will have to agree only to use it for UltraVNC SC EXE.

Uninstall
To uninstall you will need to use the ADD/REMOVE component of Windows.

I think your very nice tools would be greatly appreciated on UltraVNC web site from users want to put dynamically their information and don't want to put their fixed static name or IP address in their SC as "hardcoded" ! :D

That is amazing please include in the next release of sccc.exe. But it should also ask for the ID:.

This thread was a more about the webpage loading SC automaticly.
If i sign the code with a certificate the client could only have to install the certificate once and then every time after this when the client opens this webpage SC would then just load with out asking the client to download .

Soon SC will be no click at all. hehehhehe :D

Thats cool.

Here is a new post for the MANUAL SCPROMPT with the ID as requested.

Not sure only tested on IE.

I think when i finaly get this auto loading page sorted. (It does work i just need to understand it better) I will look at JAVA loading.

I suspect a Java loader would be 100% good.

Has no Java support. So this would work better on IE.
MS security constanly changes.

Use at own risk
Its not a perfect loader, as i said windows security is another.

Anyways yes the problem you have is that you need to sign the remote.cab and remote.exe with a certificate. Get a certificate and then use the Signcode.exe.
After you sign the code your client will then get the option to choose if they want to allow (Trust) running from your site (certificate) If they choose yes it will always trust your app and run without prompt. (Note use at your own risk) Read up on it a bit more. This is the stuff i have been working out for months , very unclear stuff.

Information is so scares on this stuff due to spyware.

There is two ways to get a code signing certificate.
You can make a self signed cetificate with Crypto 4
http://www.eldos.com/c4/

Or you can get one from a Certificate Authority.
Example : http://www.ascertia.com/onlineCA/default.aspx
If you use a online provider it may take a hour for the Certificate to become active on your certificate store.
and other paying ones.

There is a 3rd way where you can install a Certificate Authority on a Windows Server, but its higly not recomended due to it making your server unreversable. Dont do this one.

When you make a certificate make sure it is a code signing certificate.

Hope this helps and if any one has more inofrmation please let us know too.

This is awesome but everytime I try to run it and i have windows has blocked this software because it cannot verify the publisher I used Krypto and created a cert and it loads and I accept it ... anyway to fix this problem that you guys are aware of. I know this is outside the realm of VNC but this would be very handy to be working and I am sure other people have questions about it too.

Thanks!

I may be wrong here, Verisign and Twate and other big players have their root certificate already put on windows XP, The free and other cheaper ones need to have the certificate importated on the computer on alfter this will the client not be prompted anymore.

One of the best things about Firefox is that it doesn't use ActiveX.
ActiveX is a portal for spyware. Ever gone to someones PC & got a dozen or so popups

Well thats my 2 cents worth

Help!

Post by rcs »

I've got both signed files now, but

*************************************************************
"Windows has blocked this software because it can't verify the publisher"

Name: remote.cab
Publisher: Unknown Publisher

| OK |

*************************************************************
Hope you all like my lowtech screen shot =P.

Anyways, I used that free service listed above, and I made the .p7b file.
Long story short, my files are signed, I can see the info if I right click them. However, it seems from testing that the only way to get the certificate to the customer is for them to download the .p7b and then right click it and install.

that gives a window that will say |install| |dont install| and I get the option to then "always trust stuff from blah blah blah blah" ect...

How do I get this to work?

I have played around with adding and removing the certificate, and I've noticed that it seems that a machine without the "official Ascertia root CA certificate" they list on their website has the problem I have described.

That being the case, to make my certificate worth anything, the customer would need to go to their website and get this key first. Machines come preloaded with the verisign cert, which is why anything from verisign works fine.

Am I right about this?

Another note, is that every SP2 machine I've used, doesn't ask the user if they want to trust certs the way older OS's did, again, maybe this is me?

i thought that the pedf help file was about the Crypto4 for securing CAB files....
anybody can helpme with that?

Windows its blocking me a cab file and it says:
---------------------------------------
Internet Explorer Security Warning
Windows has blocked this sofware because it can't verify the publisher.
Name: WebDvr3.cab
Publisher: UNKNOWN PUBLISHER
---------------------------------------
i read on this forum that i can verify that file with the Crypto4 i just downloaded it but i cant figureout how to sign the file....

thanks in advance.

Re: UltraVNC SC Auto loading client webpage (HTML)

Post by sascha »

I got the auto web load working. I only want to use it in the intranet for the clients inside the network. So If any client needs assistance he finds any information needed in the intranet, contact person of IT and so on...
so it would be nice if he just makes a "single click" on his intranet page...

so far so good, but activex works only if the user user is a local admin.

does anyone know how to handle this problem? As said it should only work in the Intranet. So one idea was to distribute the activex per logon script?!

thanks in advance for any idea how to fix this "little" problem :D
maybe a java version is already in work?

cheers

I think if you install the certificate on the client machine and add the url to the trused site it may auto run. Been some time since i played with this stuff. I could be completly wrong here. Its probley one of the hardest things to setup in MS. (Due to all the dodge viruses ect) Also those in the know are so tight lipped on this stuff. It took ages to get it this far, searching for months on little scraps on the net.
