Post by osubucks »

Trying to find out if ultravnc is compatible with macs. I have the "UltraVNC Viewer (Listen Mode)" running on a windows xp pro computer. i would like to be able to provide remote support to a mac os x computer. is it possible? if so how? i have created a client connection that works great on windows computers. now my problem is connecting to a mac os x computer.

YES IT IS!!! I just set-up Apple Remote Desktop on a G4 tower running 10.4.x. I was able to connect to the Mac with no problem at all.

Thank you to:

The file that is created using uvnc is a .exe file. Did you have to do anything special? Or are you using Remote Desktop Client.

You don't use UltraVNC on the Mac. In the Mac's Control Panel you configure Apple Remote Desktop. There is a box to check to enable it to accept sessions from VNC clients. Once you have it set-up, you use UltraVNC on the Windows computer to control the Mac.
